FILING OF EMPLOYEES ANNUAL RETURN

Lagos State Internal Revenue Service issued a publication in the Guardian Newspaper of January 6, 2016 requesting all employers of labour in Lagos State to file their 2015 Employees Annual Tax Returns for the year ended 31 December 2015 on or before 31 January 2016 in accordance with the Provisions of Personal Income Tax Act CAP P.20, LFN 2004 (as amended).
 
The same provision applies to Employers of Labour in other States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who are also required to file similar returns with their respective State Internal Revenue Service or the Federal Inland Revenue Service in the case of employees resident in the FCT.
 
The penalty for non-compliance is N500,000.00 and N50,000 for a default by Corporate body and Individual respectively.
